The Half-Century Club was started in 2005. Jo Meeker simply made it happen.
Jo wanted an annual event that Mac grads could come to where they could meet/mingle with friends from their year or other years who were at Mac at the same time. We made the threshold 50 years since graduation. So in 2005, all Mac grads from years prior to '56 could attend. The luncheon 'meeting' was at the President's Residence, mostly under a marquee tent, and it was a great success. Jo's energy kept it going in '06 as well in spite of some bad weather.

In 2007 things changed a bit. The Class of '53 Committee was less active in running the event (a good thing), and we moved indoors to Convocation Hall. Imagine, a buffet lunch, with wine, in Con Hall!
In 2008 it was run by Alumni Development and the Class of '53 were no longer involved. That's OK, we have to save our energy for 2013 when we reach 60!
