Monday, September 20 was when we planned to visit the local whales. We were going with two groups also staying at the Marathon, 'Birders' and 'Rhodes Scholars'. Alas, the last minute forecast was that there'd be continuing fog and heavy swells at sea so the trip was cancelled (after we got up at 6:45am!).
The day, however, was not a waste. We dove to places we'd already seen and some new locations as well. It was outstanding at the former herring factory with all kinds of texture to play with in soft, even, overcast light.
We also found a new (to us) rocky beach to photograph as the tide came in. Yeah, we had a great day. And that concluded our Grand Manan visit ... a lovely place with very friendly inhabitants. Nice, very nice.
