This is our second visit to Quebec's Iles-de-la-Madeleine, the islands in the Gulf of the St Lawrence ... a 5 hour ferry ride from Prince Edward Island. We were here In 2006 along with Sue and Jim Curtis. This time we have 6 full days to photograph (weather permitting).

Tuesdays forecast called for some overcast early in the day and then sun with broken cloud. And that's what we got! It was still only 14C all day and we had less wind but we wore our jackets. This was our day to drive to the north end of the islands. So we went all the way to Grosse Ile and Grand Entree. We shot at Old Harry and the harbour ... with most of the boats out of the water. We got back to Cap aux Meules (the main island/town) about 2 pm, had lunch and then made some photographs on the Cap aux Meules north coast. Very, very satisfying indeed!
But first a review:
Below are two of the photographs taken yesterday at the Fishing Harbour on Ile des Loupes. Remember ... wind and rain? We've added one taken today ... sunshine!
Not all the boats are 'beautiful', cared for, immaculate, although many are. These two photos are of 'Freddy 4'
... and I suspect she rarely goes to sea and very rarely
has a catch worthy of the name.
