These images come from the afternoon shoot following our drive to/through the Panamint Mountains. I think they used to call this drive the 'Artist's Palette' ... doesn't matter, it's the same drive and the same soil colours from the minerals therein. The drive was a bit of a disappointment until we got to the very end. By then the strong, late afternoon light helped enhance the colours and textures. Included are some shots taken as we drove back to Stovepipe, in the dusk. A great day!
After dinner we walked back to our room and noted the Crescent Moon and Venus (so we are told) nearby.
So Tom set up his tripod and with his 70-300 mm lens photographed the moon! Yeah it is pretty small, but I can see craters and stuff on the part that's lit!
